Presented within the 30th Macao International Music Festival, the recital “Reunion” marked the return to Macao of the festival’s first Artistic Director, the eminent Portuguese pianist Adriano Jordão. Conceived as a celebration of this historical bond, the program bridged Classical German–Austrian traditions and 20th‑century Portuguese neo‑classicism. The artistic focus lay on the intimate, romantic palette of the piano: Haydn’s late‑18th‑century elegance, Beethoven’s brilliant command of variation, and the quintessential Romanticism of Schumann. The inclusion of Armando José Fernandes’s Five Preludes added a distinct Portuguese voice, reflecting the pianist’s heritage and the festival’s cross‑cultural outlook.
