Lilli could be happy: engaged to Albert, who hopes for a career at his bank, she learns that she is to inherit 50,000 marks. However, the windfall is linked to one condition: Lilli should marry her school friend Hans, only then will she inherit. Now Hans and Lilli like each other, very much; but more like brother and sister, they believe. And besides, Lilli is engaged to the solid Albert (who unfortunately tends to get jealous quickly), and Hans to the attractive Gwendolin (who unfortunately can quickly become bitchy). Is a marriage of convenience the solution? A turbulent decision is made during a Mediterranean cruise. Eduard Künneke's "Vetter from Dingsda" conquered the stages of Europe in 1921. And his operetta success "Herz über Bord" was to be performed in almost 500 performances all over Europe in the two years after its premiere in 1935 in the Zurich Opera House and even made it onto Broadway. It's one of those pieces that you can't understand why it's been forgotten.
