Façade

Choreographer and dancer Nora Monsecour presents her first solo evening with Façade. The work is personal and rooted in questions of authenticity and identity. The stage resembles a studio or in-between space: draped fabrics and curtains shape the environment while the choreography explores the creation, rejection, and reconstruction of identity. Costume and set elements—such as a zinc washtub—serve as props for intimate rituals of cleansing and unveiling. Light and electronic music are carefully woven into the dramaturgy. Façade focuses on controlled visibilities and masks—both as external expectations and as protective mechanisms of self-perception. The movement language shifts between masculine and feminine gestures, textured costume details, and ritualized actions (e.g., removing adhesive strips). Intimate, close-body moments alternate with public, posed images, opening spaces in which gender identity is negotiated and the tension between self-construction and social attribution becomes palpable.
