This Boston Early Music Festival guest production at Confidencen presents an 18th-century English burlesque opera parodying Handelian extravagance. The staged production uses period-inspired costumes, physical comedy and choreography and is presented as comic musical theatre rather than a concert. Gilbert Blin directs; Paul O'Dette and Stephen Stubbs are musical directors; Robert Mealy is concertmaster; Melinda Sullivan provides choreography; Seth Bodie designs costumes; Kelly Martin designs lighting; and Jason McStoots is assistant stage director. The production involves 18 singers, dancers and instrumentalists.
