In 2011, we will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the important Slovak composer Ján Cikker. On this occasion, the State Opera decided to stage a remarkable opera written according to the model of W. Shakespeare, which has not yet been performed in Slovakia for various political reasons. "Tragedy without pity and a glimmer of hope" - this is how the composer perceived the story from ancient Rome in such an Orwellian way. The contradictory hero Coriolanus is an image of today's man and his complicated being. The expressive colors and sharp contrasts of the orchestra, exciting choirs and the expressive expression of the lyrical solo parts are compressed into fourteen scenes.
