Alcina

This production of Handel's Alcina was a collaboration between the Yale School of Music's Yale Opera program and The Legacy Theatre. The staging explored the Baroque world of sorcery and desire, directed by Yale alum Dustin Wills. Designed for the intimate 70-seat Legacy Theatre, the presentation aimed to evoke how Baroque operas are frequently experienced in Europe. The musical forces were tailored to the period: a small baroque ensemble featuring harpsichord, string quartet, and theorbo, rather than a full modern orchestra. The creative team combined professionals from The Legacy Theatre with students and faculty from the Yale School of Music and the David Geffen School of Drama.
