Hamlet by William Shakespeare is presented by the Stage First! drama group of the First Gymnasium Split, directed by Ivan Leo Lemo, performed in the original English with Croatian subtitles. The staging invites audiences to engage with Shakespeare’s language while ensuring clarity through surtitles. Part of the 71st Split Summer Festival (Splitsko ljeto), the production aligns with the festival’s 2025 focus on leadership and the cult of personality alongside premieres such as Diocletian and Julius Caesar. Festival drama director Ivan Penović highlighted this student Hamlet as a key part of the drama program. As noted by Marina Knežević Petković in Slobodna Dalmacija, the show demonstrates how young artists, with guidance and passion, can reach artistic achievements beyond their years.
