Collectif 8 revives Orwell’s masterpiece, a major success at Avignon Off 2024, ahead of a national and international tour. The company frames staging 1984 today as an artistic necessity in the face of contemporary issues: surveillance, manipulation of thought and information, mental reconditioning, puritanism and communitarianism, impoverishment of language, restrictions on free speech, and the state of emergency. Gaële Boghossian’s production is built on powerful visual and sonic elements, integrating Paulo Correia’s video design and Benoît Berrou’s music to embody Big Brother’s omnipresence. Recommended for ages 12 and up. Safety notice: strobe lighting and certain sound frequencies may trigger adverse effects, especially for photosensitive or epileptic individuals. An audience talk with the artistic team is scheduled after the performance on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
