This Cottbus staging of Robin Hood is adapted from the 2025/26 Theater Magdeburg production and newly rehearsed with the Staatstheater Cottbus ensemble for the 2026/27 season. Director Paulina Neukampf connects the medieval legend to a contemporary perspective. Critics describe it as a lively, humorous and up‑to‑date Christmas fairy tale that highlights the story’s ongoing relevance. Designer Pascal Seibicke uses a pared‑down, flexible set—Sheriff, rebellious gang, king and many chairs—to foreground ensemble storytelling. Contemporary comedy, including TikTok nods, neon smileys and a Robin who dabs, bridges the medieval tale with today’s pop culture for young audiences. Original music by Bene Becker with song lyrics by Josef Parzefall, under the musical direction of Hans Petith. Dramaturgy for the Cottbus version is by Johannes Lange and Anica Happich. The result is a brisk piece of spoken theatre with music for families and audiences aged six and up.
