This 1949 staging of Franz Lehár’s Frasquita at the Grand Théâtre de Tours was presented in its French adaptation by Max Eddy and Jean Marietti. The production was a fully staged house effort, utilizing the resident artistic forces of the Grand Théâtre de Tours, including its orchestra, chorus, and ballet corps. Under the musical direction of Lucien Delinsart and the stage direction of Paul Mestre (who also performed the role of Aristide), the production embraced the traditional opéra-comique format. The choreography, an essential element given the work’s Spanish setting and gypsy dance sequences, was designed by Henri Taneeff, with stage management overseen by Jean Robert.
