A multidisciplinary staging of Albert Camus’s L’Étranger combines theatre, live music, and dance in an intimate off-site production by the Opéra-Théâtre de l’Eurométropole de Metz. Adapted and directed by Paul-Émile Fourny, the piece immerses the audience in Meursault’s inner world and perspective. The staging features live Oud by Christophoro Dimitri Zambragkis and choreography by Camilla Cason to amplify the novel’s atmosphere and emotional stakes. Presented at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional Gabriel Pierné, the production is part of the opera-theatre’s Hors les murs programming. Designed for both school audiences and the general public, it focuses on clarity of storytelling and proximity between performers and spectators. With focused lighting and movement, the production aims to sharpen the narrative’s stark moral landscape. The result is a contemporary, concentrated reimagining of Camus’s seminal text.
