Àlex Rigola turns Lorca’s surreal text into an immersive experience that completely transforms TNC’s Sala Gran. Max Glaenzel’s set wraps the hall in bright silver plastic strips, creating a ballroom-like atmosphere that draws the audience into the action. Written around 1930 and published posthumously, the play opposes “open-air theatre” (bourgeois convention) to “theatre beneath the sand” (authentic art), confronting repressed desire and homosexuality head-on. With a soundscape by Nao Albet, video by Eduardo López, and masks by Ricardo Vergne, the production aims to let audiences literally enter Federico’s mind. Carlos Marquerie’s award-winning lighting and Laia Duran’s choreography for the Pastor Bobo sequence complete a staging where identities constantly metamorphose. Dramaturgy by Eleonora Herder and direction assistance by Carlota Ferrer support a scenic device developed with La Abadía’s team.
