The Lady and the Peddler

The 2025 presentation is a concert performance of Haim Permont's chamber opera, with a libretto by Tzruya Lahav based on Shmuel Yosef Agnon's novella. It was presented within the 27th Israel Music Festival rather than as the 2015 staged production. The documented forces were two soloists, conductor, and the Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion. Rachel Frankel performed the Lady and Yair Polishook performed the Peddler. Yuval Zorn conducted, and the orchestra performed in collaboration with the Israeli Opera. The concert was dedicated to the memory of Yehoyash Hirschberg, an Israel Prize laureate who had supported the festival since its establishment.
