For many years, a woman has been waiting for her husband, who long ago sailed out onto the fjord and disappeared without a trace. When she receives a visit from a friend on a beautiful summer day, she begins to remember the day she last met her husband Asle. In flashbacks, she again experiences the pain of the speechlessness that characterizes the relationship and tries to fathom the motives for his disappearance. In 2014 the Munich composer Nikolaus Brass premiered his first music theater work »Sommertag«. The oppressive atmosphere of the play of the same name by the Norwegian author Jon Fosse is translated into music by Brass. To a large extent, this takes on a commentary function or acts as an expression of what is not said in the text. The central theme of the abolition of time is also evident in the flexible structure of the voices, which in many places is freely designed by the singers and instrumental ensemble and thus in »own time«.
