Through the story of his mother and his violin teacher, young Juan Crisóstomo learns the story of Jamil in an imaginary place in the Arabian Sea. Jamil is a young fisherman and Princess Amirah, his sweetheart. Only when she reproaches him for his past as a fisherman, Jamil stops talking and flees, while Amirah begins her search full of anxiety and danger. The work speaks of the values of music as opposed to silence and the absence of sound, but also speaks of respect for people's origins and backgrounds, respect for diversity and the importance of words for communication.
