Presented as an oratorio with staged mise en espace by librettist Valérie Letellier, this production embraces a minimalist, symbolic aesthetic. A few key scenic objects—a golden cup, a large chandelier, a book—define the playing space, with the orchestra set directly on stage (in Paris at the Cirque d’Hiver, within the central ring). A monumental suspended canvas by Maria Kreyn, In the Wake, depicting Mary rising from the tomb, serves as the principal visual anchor. Fluid movement and attentive interactions unfold without musical breaks, while lighting (in red and blue) shapes transitions and sculpts the stage and choirs. Israeli-inspired costumes use distinct, almost emblematic colors (red and white for Anne and Mary, black for Zachariah, white for Peter, grey for the Archangels) to heighten the work’s cryptic, spiritual atmosphere.
