The Second Woman

The production is created, directed, and scripted by Nat Randall and Anna Breckon, with Georgina Verbaan in the central acting role. It combines theatre, video art, and live cinema: the stage action is recorded and edited live, then shown on a large screen at Amsterdam's Tuschinski cinema while the stage performance continues at Internationaal Theater Amsterdam. Over 24 hours, Verbaan repeats the same approximately ten-minute scene 100 times with 100 different local participants. The visual concept draws on 1970s American independent cinema and the history of women's melodrama. Design credits include video by EO Gill and Anna Breckon, lighting by Amber Silk, Kayla Burrett, and Lauren Woodhead, sound by Nina Buchanan, set design by FUTURE METHOD STUDIO, and additional hair and makeup by Sophie Roberts.
