Pinocchio at the opera! The new collaboration between Joël Pommerat (who here adapts his award-winning play at the 2016 Molières) and Philippe Boesmans makes the little wooden puppet a character far from sentimentalism and reconnecting with the uncompromising image of poverty from Collodi's novel (1881). The six performers take turns taking on the characters, among whom the troupe director is the narrator of this initiatory tale. Born from the imagination of a man, the puppet Pinocchio turns out to be a monster of greed, obsessed with wealth and convinced that the world is at his service. Before reaching humanity, he will learn to relate to others, and to freedom. A freedom that is not necessarily easy to define. [...] In this “extraordinary and at the same time true story”, Pinocchio confronts us with the quest for truth that every human being must undertake to live in peace with himself and with others.
