Ralph Benatzky's operetta premiered in 1936 at the Theater an der Wien and made the young Zarah Leander a star overnight. With the atypical contra-alto of the diva, the location Hollywood and with hits like "Gebunde Hände" there was a fresh wind in the genre of the operetta. In the successful revival at the Volksoper, Bettina Mönch can now be seen as the capricious Hollywood diva Gloria Mills and Andreas Bieber as the gossip reporter Axel. Benatzky's music sounds in new arrangements by Kai Tietje, director Peter Lund enriched the entire production in black and white with funny cartoons by Andreas Ivancics and staged a brilliant stage show.
