The fourth and final concert of the Honourable Chamber Music Society’s cycle at Ehrbar Saal brings together two of Schubert’s most beloved chamber works: the expansive late Piano Trio No. 2 in E-flat major, Op. 100 (D 929), and the genial “Trout” Quintet in A major, D 667, from his middle period. The program is presented as two peaks of the composer’s expressive world, poised in a compelling tension between depth and sociable, life-affirming energy. The Trout Quintet—often heard yet always cherished—features the distinctive scoring for piano, violin, viola, cello, and double bass, while the Trio highlights Schubert’s lyrical breadth and structural mastery. Performed by a quintet of leading artists, the evening traverses Schubert’s rich sonic landscape in the historic Ehrbar Saal.
