Opera in three acts, in Czech. "Eva" is the most famous opera by the Czech romantic composer Josef Bohuslav Foerster. It was based on a libretto based on the play by Gabriela Preissova , the host's Lover . The premiere in Prague in 1899 caused a stir - the naturalistic drama in the lives of the inhabitants of Moravian Slovakia represents the life and moral taboos of a small rural community. At the same time, Foerster did not seek musical folklore, which was typical of many works of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Eva is a poor seamstress whom Manek, the son of wealthy farmers, loves with reciprocity. Eva wants to break up with him, accusing him of excessive submission to her despotic mother, Mešjanovka. She places a condition on her son: he is to marry rich Maryša or he will be disinherited. Samko the invalid gains hope of winning Eva. He marries her, but soon their child dies at his father's fault.
