Andalusian Currents is the album-presentation program by the Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra (AAO), founded in 2011 by young Amsterdam and Moroccan musicians and creatives to share the scope of Andalusian culture (Al-Andalus). Blending Arabic, Amazigh, Jewish, Islamic and Christian traditions underpins both the repertoire and the ensemble’s approach. The production brings the Arab-Andalusian repertoire—the orchestra’s “beating heart”—to life outside Morocco. AAO combines music with dance, theatre and storytelling, presenting three nubat alongside selections from the 2025 album Andalusian Currents and a Chaabi Andalusi medley. Part of Het Concertgebouw’s Own Programming; the concert has no intermission.
