About this event

This touring concert celebrates the 80th birthday of Trevor Pinnock, a leading Baroque specialist renowned for his interpretations of Bach, Handel, and Vivaldi. He conducts the Orchestre National de France and the Chœur de Radio France in a festive performance of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio. The program focuses on the first three of the six original cantatas written in 1734 for the Christmas season, spotlighting the work’s jubilant, communicative spirit. Opening with the exultant chorus “Jauchzet, frohlocket! Auf, preiset die Tage,” the concert invites audiences to celebrate together and set aside gloom. Presented within Radio France’s Le Grand Tour, the production travels to Nîmes, Aix-en-Provence, Grenoble, and Paris. The Paris performance is a co-production with the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and will be recorded for broadcast by France Musique.
