About this event

A two-hour cello performance by Khabat Abas for one individual listener. The work is durational and continuous rather than presented as a conventional fixed concert for a seated audience. Each listener encounters only a five-minute fragment of the ongoing performance. The performance has already begun before the listener arrives and continues after the listener leaves, so no individual listener can experience the work in its entirety. The production develops through sound, time, body, material, and improvisation. Its structure makes the listener's arrival and departure part of the temporal situation: something has already happened, something else is emerging, and the piece continues without the departing listener. Khabat Abas is identified by the venue as a composer, improviser, and sound artist, and as a 2026 Music & Sound Fellow of the Berliner Künstlerprogramm des DAAD. The cello is described as the instrument she has explored throughout her life.
