Spooky Paradise – Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, Berlin

Philippe Quesne's production places the words "Spooky Paradise" in illuminated letters on a scaffold in the middle of a derelict site. The image presents the remains of a vanished attraction and establishes a setting that can read as an abandoned fairground, a ghost train, or a film set. The concept, direction, and set design are by Philippe Quesne. The production team comprises Élodie Dauguet for artistic collaboration, Tabea Braun for costume, Florian Brückner for lighting, and Lili Hering and Johanna Höhmann for dramaturgy. The cast combines Volksbühne ensemble members with performers associated with Quesne's Vivarium Studio. The staging uses a multilingual ensemble of actors and musicians and places fragile performance-making between utopian possibility and a gently melancholic dystopian atmosphere. It is Quesne's first work at the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz.
