Joy Is Not a Metaphor is a workshop by Ana Pi / NA MATA LAB presented within The School of Self-Defense at Volksbuehne Berlin. It introduces Ana Pi's ongoing CORPO FIRME research into movement practices of the African diaspora in the transatlantic space. The workshop explores embodied knowledge, memory, freedom, rhythm, presence, tension, listening, improvisation, composition, autonomy, and community through individual and collective choreographic situations.
