This is the 614th edition of the Sonntagsmusik concert series, presented as a Baroque program centered on brilliant trumpet sonorities. The official description places the trumpet in both festive large-scale settings and chamber-music contexts, linking the program's works to the celebratory and intimate uses of the instrument in Baroque music. The program moves from Händel's aria "Eternal source of light divine" to arias from Caldara's oratorio La Caduta di Gerico, followed by church music by Johann Philipp Krieger and cantatas by Georg Philipp Telemann. Artistic leadership is attributed to Carsten Hermann Gerth. The ensemble Sua Dolce Maestà performs with countertenor Jan Kullmann, supported by period-instrument and continuo forces including trumpets, timpani, violoncello, violin, theorbo, viola da gamba, harpsichord and organ.
