Requiem - Repetition – Antonín Dvořák Theater, Ostrava

About this event

NDM presents Verdi's Requiem as a staged version of the Requiem Mass rather than as a purely liturgical or concert presentation. The production treats the work's theatrical quality as central and uses four soloists, a large chorus, and a full orchestra to place the fear of death and the search for light and hope at the center of the performance. The artistic team is led by stage-directing duo SKUTR, with set design by Jakub Kopecký, costumes by Simona Rybáková, choreography by Jan Kodet, chorus direction by Jurij Galatenko, dramaturgy by Juraj Bajús, and music direction by Marek Šedivý. Conducting is credited to Marek Šedivý and Filip Urban. The production is built on contrasts between intimate a cappella passages and the full force of chorus and orchestra, and between prayer, dramatic intensity, faith, and doubt.
