Steven Kazuo Takasugi & Speak Percussion – Donauhallen, Donaueschingen

About this event

Museum Factory is a multimedia performance built around sculptural instruments, a percussion trio, video, and electronics. The concept is inspired by the Percy Grainger Museum in Melbourne and by Percy Grainger's practice of collecting curiosities. Steven Kazuo Takasugi places the sculptures between visual art and a factory environment, treating them as instruments from which sounds are hammered out. The production combines live percussion activity with video and electronic processing rather than presenting a conventional instrumental concert setup. The sonic material includes thousands of instrumental samples drawn from the Grainger Museum collection and from members of Speak Percussion. Speak Percussion is making its Donaueschinger Musiktage debut in this production.
