About this event

Classic 5 is LA Opera's 2026/27 five-opera subscription package. It groups five separate mainstage stagings: Carmen, Candide, Nabucco, Turandot, and The Marriage of Figaro. Carmen is a new Spanish Gothic production by Thaddeus Strassberger, with choreography by Antonio Najarro and designs by Mattie Ullrich, Pablo Santiago, and Greg Emetaz. Candide is Francesca Zambello's Rococo production, conducted by Lina Gonzalez-Granados. Nabucco uses Strassberger's concept, while Turandot uses David Hockney's scenery and Garnett Bruce's direction. The Marriage of Figaro is a period production directed by James Gray, with designs by Santo Loquasto and Christian Lacroix.
