About this event

The concert brings together the Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla, Juventudes Musicales, and the Association of Bassoonists and Oboists of Spain. Julia Cruz conducts. Irene Arriaza appears as violin soloist and Javier Sanz Pascual as bassoon soloist; Sanz Pascual won first prize in the sixth AFOES Competition. The programme presents two overtures followed by two concertante works: Weber's Oberon overture precedes his Bassoon Concerto, while Saint-Saëns's overture from an unfinished comic opera precedes his Third Violin Concerto. The event is a tribute to Julio García Casas, who served as president of Juventudes Musicales de Sevilla for more than sixty years, marking the tenth anniversary of his death.
