This is a chamber concert in the Liszt Inspirations program. The event presents late Liszt piano works in arrangements for piano and cimbalom, with Balázs Fülei at the piano and András Szalai on cimbalom. The artistic concept centers on the late Liszt aesthetic described by the event materials as resignation and a search for intense expression through very limited musical means, including a single harmony, a single voice, or the sigh of two notes. The cimbalom is treated as more than an accompanying instrument: the event description connects its importance to Liszt's Hungarian identity and to the influence of its sound and playing technique on his experiments with the piano. The program draws on material from the artists' record En Rêve - Liszt Inspirations and uses their arrangements to recast the late pieces as a concert-length musical meditation.
