About this event

The Blue Bird is a musical fairy tale by the Children’s Opera Studio of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. Brother and sister Tyltyl and Mytyl set off on a long journey in search of the symbol of happiness. Based on Maurice Maeterlinck’s philosophical tale, the production is reimagined by director Vyacheslav Tsyupa and composer Evgenia Teryokhina. Along the way, anthropomorphic companions such as Cat, Dog, Sugar, Milk, and Bread come to life as the children pass through the Land of Memories, the Palace of Night, the Enchanted Forest, the Land of the Dead, the Gardens of Bliss, and the Kingdom of the Future. The concept stresses that happiness is close at hand, if only we learn to see it. Premiere: 12 December 2021. Duration: 2 hours.
