Pushkin. We know much about his poetry and prose, love and friendship, life and death. But how can we learn what was happening in his soul when he created his immortal works, when he loved and felt jealousy, danced with Natalya at a ball, and died in agony from D’Anthès’s bullet? Words cannot help us here. Art, however, offers other means. Choreographer Nikita Dmitrievsky and composer Konstantin Borisov make a bold attempt to enter the poet’s realm of visions and dreams, thoughts and emotions. The story of Pushkin as poet and as man is revealed to the audience through the plasticity of movement and dance, music and light, and the full arsenal of means available to contemporary theatre.
