Opera
This staging presents Puccini's opera in the setting of imperial Beijing. Its central dramatic device is Princess Turandot's public challenge to her suitors: three riddles, with death as the penalty for failure. The production frames the story through the linked themes of political power, desire, sacrifice, and the possibility of transformative love. Rocc is credited with stage direction and set design. Belinda Radulović designed the costumes, while Nataša Novotná is the movement director. Marek Šedivý is the music director and conductor. Juraj Bajús is dramaturg, Jurij Galatenko is chorus master, and Lenka Živocká heads the NDM Opera Studio. The production's musical profile is defined by Puccini's large-scale orchestral writing, vocal melodies, and the aria "Nessun dorma".
