About this event

This is a symphonic concert presented by the Opéra National de Bordeaux, with the Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine and the Chœur de l’Opéra National de Bordeaux. The program is framed as a double memorial tribute and combines orchestral, concerto, string-orchestral, and choral repertoire. The sequence moves from Mozart's Musique funèbre maçonnique K. 477 to Swensen's Shizue, then Takemitsu's Requiem pour cordes, and finally Fauré's Requiem. Gunnar Jinmei Linder performs the shakuhachi part, while Gloria Tronel and Jérôme Boutillier are vocal soloists. The concert is presented without staging and is captured by France Musique. Its memorial concept connects Fauré's Requiem with Swensen's Shizue, dedicated to Swensen's aunt, a direct victim of the Hiroshima tragedy.
