About this event

The event is a concert and spoken-word presentation centered on Wolf Biermann’s artistic and political work. It focuses on his opposition to the GDR dictatorship, his songs, books and music publications, and his continuing public interventions. He received a total performance and publication ban lasting twelve years, yet remained a prominent critic of the GDR dictatorship. The concert is presented under the motto “Warte nicht auf bessre Zeiten!” and takes place in the Grand Hall of the Elbphilharmonie. Announced participants include Biermann, Pamela Biermann, Campino, Otto Waalkes, Burghart Klaußner, Salut Salon, Nora Buschmann, Franz Hohler, Uschi Brüning, Christian von der Goltz, Günter “Baby” Sommer, Ulrich Gumpert and Gustav Peter Wöhler. The wider project consists of three concerts in 2026 marking Biermann’s 90th birthday and the 50th anniversary of the 1976 Cologne concert and his expulsion from the GDR.
