This is a solo piano recital forming the opening concert of Igor Levit's Beethoven sonata cycle, titled "Beethoven: The Sonatas I." The cycle presents all 32 Beethoven piano sonatas in eight concerts across the 2026/27 and 2027/28 seasons. The Hamburg presentation is associated with ProArte and alternates between the Laeiszhalle and Elbphilharmonie. The artistic focus is the solo pianist and the progression of four Beethoven sonatas in one evening. The program moves from the early F minor Sonata, Op. 2/1, to the A-flat major Sonata, Op. 26, then resumes after the interval with the G major Op. 79 "Sonatine" and the C major Op. 53 "Waldstein-Sonata." The venue is the Großer Saal of the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg.
