Bellows Across Borders is a German-British accordion concert presented in the Year of the Accordion and in the context of German-British friendship. The production brings together the Akkordeonorchester der Musikschule Elmshorn and the London Accordion Orchestra at the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg. The Elmshorn orchestra was founded in 1980 and is led by Susanne Drdack. The London Accordion Orchestra was founded in 1999 and is led by Ian Watson. The event presents the two ensembles as organizations with different roots but a shared musical language. Its artistic concept is an exchange between the two orchestras, using original compositions and arrangements from both countries. The title also refers to the orchestras' first joint concert series, described as a musical bridge across the English Channel. No staging concept, director, stage designer, costume designer, lighting designer, or choreographer is specified.
