Production
Oratorio & Sacred Classical Concert
This is a concert production rather than a staged opera or theatrical presentation. Bach Collegium San Diego opens its 2026-27 program with a Salzburg-focused pairing of Mozart and Michael Haydn. The two composers are represented by works for voices and ensemble, with the program built around a sequence of sacred forms rather than scenic action. Mozart's Vesperae solennes de confessore supplies the opening Vespers setting, Michael Haydn's Requiem in C minor provides the central large-scale sacred work, and Mozart's Ave verum corpus provides the closing motet. The program is presented at the Baker-Baum Concert Hall at The Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center on October 17 and at All Souls' Episcopal Church on October 18. The October 17 performance includes an 18:10 pre-show Prelude in the Atkinson Room.
