About this event

This concert presents a curated vocal recital titled "Love Letter to the Americas" featuring soprano Shelén Hughes Camacho, baritone Joseph Parrish, and pianist Amir Farid. The program juxtaposes selections from European opera with American and Latin American song traditions, illustrating how vocal music across cultures engages themes of love, place, and identity. The repertoire includes arias by Donizetti, Mascagni, and Mozart, American standards by Gershwin, Kern, and Hammerstein, spirituals and arrangements associated with Hall Johnson, Moses Hogan, and H. T. Burleigh, art songs, folk songs, and popular music. Presented by Ashmont Hill Chamber Music at Peabody Hall, All Saints Church, the two-hour in-person recital includes a post-concert reception.
