About this event

The concert is the opening event of the 29th Beijing Music Festival and is organized around the piano and Rome as its two central subjects. The first half places Elisabeth Leonskaja at the piano in Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 22 in E-flat major, K. 482, conducted by Charles Dutoit. The second half presents Respighi's Roman Trilogy as three separate symphonic poems in the order Roman Festivals, Fountains of Rome, and Pines of Rome. The BMF Festival Orchestra is specially assembled for the festival from leading musicians of orchestras belonging to the Chinese Musicians Association Symphony Orchestra Alliance. The presentation is a symphonic concert rather than a staged opera or theatre production.
