About this event

This is a symphonic concert rather than a staged theatrical production. It is the second program of Edward Gardner and the London Philharmonic Orchestra's festival residency, titled “Out of Don Giovanni's Shadow, into Brahms's Sunlight.” The program opens with Mozart's Don Giovanni overture, continues with the D-minor Piano Concerto No. 20 featuring Gerhard Oppitz as soloist, and concludes after the interval with Brahms's D-major Symphony No. 2. The concept is expressed through a progression from darker D-minor drama toward warmer, more pastoral D-major sound.
