About this event
Rainfair is a staged contemporary music work by Lithuanian composer Arturas Bumšteinas. It begins with a weather diary written in 1868 by Boston land surveyor and wood mill operator Peter M. Horn, later discovered in a Berlin flea market. Bumšteinas uses the diary as material for an exploration of musical harmony arising through repetition. Lora Kmieliauskaitė and Julija Bagdonavičiūtė appear on stage without their instruments, listening to recordings of their own instrumental playing through loudspeakers and vocalising selected diary texts. The production combines live voice, recorded instrumental performance, spoken archival material and environmental sound.
