About this event

This is the Opéra national du Rhin production of Verdi's Otello, co-produced with the Opéra national de Nancy-Lorraine and Les Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg. The Luxembourg performances are presented in collaboration with the Luxembourg Philharmonic. Ted Huffman directs and designs the set, with Bart Van Merode credited for set-design collaboration. Astrid Klein designs the costumes, Bertrand Couderc the lighting, and Pim Veulings the movement. The production relocates the drama to 1950s Italy and contrasts glamour with violence, focusing on psychological manipulation, Iago's gradual cultivation of Otello's jealousy, and Desdemona's vulnerability to masculine rage. The chorus has a central function in the staging, with choirs from the Opéra national du Rhin and Opéra national de Nancy-Lorraine. Giulio Cilona conducts the Luxembourg Philharmonic.
