Mad Lover is a one-hour baroque chamber concert for violin and lute, presented within the 2026 London Festival of Baroque Music. The performance features Théotime Langlois de Swarte on violin and Thomas Dunford on lute. The program explores 17th-century English repertoire in the context of Italian influence on English composition, including sonatas, suites, suite excerpts, a fantasia, a prelude, a folia and ground-based or divisional pieces associated with Eccles, Daniel Purcell, Nicola Matteis and Joan Ambrosio Dalza. The artistic subject is musical melancholy, passion, desire, loss and virtuosity, evoking the lovestruck figure at the cosmopolitan court of Charles II. No theatrical staging, scenic design, directing, choreography, orchestra or chorus is credited.
