About this event

This is a new production of Verdi's Macbeth by Asociación Cultural El Círculo and the work's first presentation in Rosario. It focuses on the corruption caused by uncontrolled ambition for power and its destructive consequences. Macbeth, a Scottish general, encounters a prophecy and is manipulated by his wife into murdering his king, seizing the throne, and descending into violence and madness. Marcelo Perusso directs and designs the sets; Ramiro Sorrequieta designs the costumes; and Walter Gonsolin is responsible for scenic realization. The musical forces are the Coro de la Ópera de Rosario, directed by Horacio Castillo, and the Orquesta Sinfónica Provincial de Rosario, directed by Javier Mas. The principal cast comprises Leonardo López Linares as Macbeth, María Belén Rivarola as Lady Macbeth, Andrés Cofré as Macduff, Bruno Sciaini as Banquo, and Martín Otaduy as Malcolm.
