About this event
[ gameboy ] is a 50-minute contemporary dance work created and choreographed by Amy Zhang. It is presented as one of four independent choreographic works in ORBIT 2026, a touring program led by Australian Dance Theatre, Dancehouse and Sydney Dance Company. The work uses a fusion of street styles and contemporary dance to examine the collision between real and virtual environments. Its references include Japanese game shows, The Sims and unusual areas of internet culture. The production credits Jackson Gracia as sound designer, Maxwell 'Thv Flood' Douglas as contributing composer, and Theodore Carrol as lighting designer. The production includes partial nudity, haze or smoke effects, and strobe lighting effects.
