About this event

This is a concert project that revisits Manuel de Falla's music from a 21st-century perspective. The project asks what might result if Falla's scores were reread by a musician who is not constrained by a single style while remaining respectful of tradition. Moisés P. Sánchez is identified as pianist, composer, and arranger, and the project was prepared in connection with the 150th anniversary of Falla's birth (1876–1946). Sánchez treats Falla's works as material for free arrangements rather than fixed repertory reproductions. The musical vocabulary combines classical music, jazz, French Impressionism, modern harmony, and symphonic rock while retaining the essence of the originals. Improvisation is integrated into the musical narrative. Sánchez performs with violinist Ana María Valderrama and double bassist Pablo M. Caminero, creating a dialogue between piano, violin, and double bass that moves between Falla's Spanish idiom and more abstract European dimensions.
