About this event

Tiga brings together eighteen musicians from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and three Indonesian dancers. Its central musical instrument is the gamelan, a resonant percussion ensemble originating in Bali. The production combines gamelan with gongs, metallophones, chimes and drums, alongside strings, winds, electric guitar, drums and singing. Jean-Pierre "Pawak" Goudard is credited with the compositions and artistic direction. Desyana Wulani Putri provides choreographic direction, and the dancers are Desyana Wulani Putri, Hepi Berlina and Chairunnisa Rochmawati. The choreography draws on Javanese dance tradition. The title Tiga, meaning "three" in Indonesian, refers to three sisters reaching across oceans and to the meeting of past, present and future. Lighting is designed by Florent Rochet, while Henri Goudard is responsible for general management and sound.
